Anyone have an example of a working usb storage device with rawhide as of nov 12th?

Most likely you are seeing what it was discussed on this list just
yesterday.  Search for "no valid vendor found".

Try to see if your symptoms fit and if a workaround from there
helps.  By all means open another bugzilla ticket if this is
something else.
