puplet shows phantom updates

for some days now puplet insists that there are 14 updates pending for
my system,
but when using "yum check-update" there is currently only 1 package for
me to update.

$ yum check-update
...
lzo.i386                                 2.02-1.fc6
extras-developme


so far i tried:
- yum clean all
- restart yum-updatesd
- removed yum cache files by hand
