Just executed a successful update utilizing the following:
yum --exclude=totem --exclude=openoffice --exclude=neon 
--exclude=cadaver --exclude=rpm --exclude=rpm-build --exclude=rpm-devel 
--exclude=rpm-build --exclude=neon-devel --exclude=rpm-python 
--exclude=rpm-libs update
