in fact on intel machines you really don't want cpuspeed at all;

just remove it and put
modprobe cpufreq_ondemand
echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor

into your /etc/rc.local

much more happyness than cpuspeed
