Upon the very first install of a kmdl yum just picks one and may pick
one for the wrong kernel. The way to overcome this is to use

yum install foo foo-kmdl-`uname -r`

to guide yum to pick the proper first kmdl.

For subsequent updates of this kmld one can use yum-plugin-kmdl. It
deals properly with kmdl upgrades, e.g. co selects them for on kernel
upgrades. It just doesn't have logic to aid yum in selecting the very
fist one (which does seem quite hard to do as a plugin).
