Yes, nx does that by default. You don't need anybody to be logged in 
locally.

When nx works, it is much, much better than vnc.

Historically, the nx/freenx packages have been a bit flaky though (poor 
cleanup after uninstalls, preventing re-installs, etc). Perhaps they've 
been improved in recent times.
