OK, if you will blacklist firewire modules (maybe it is enough
to do that for firewire_ohci, or maybe you need to blacklist
firewire_core too) then can you boot or not?  You may need to
rebuild initrd if some of these modules are used there; which is
likely not the case.

Did you try to find out what parts of a kernel can you boot?
