Seems more like CPU speed and bitness (i686 vs. x86_64)...

My Core 2 Duo @ 3.00GHz (rawhide, x86_64), for example:
Score: 243
Richards: 251
DeltaBlue: 293
Crypto: 264
RayTrace: 215
EarleyBoyer: 318
RegExp: 156

... and that betters their Windows or Linux on "quad-core Intel Core 2
running at 2.66GHz"
Perhaps in line with several comments pointing to compiler differences.
64-bit Fedora vs. 64-bit Windows may be a better test on that hardware...
