Help needed in diagnosing cause of scrollbars rendering bug

Hello to all testers,

I'd like to ask you for help with diagnosing a bug in nodoka scrollbars
rendering [1] as I am unable to reproduce it myself and the reporter
does not have time to do extensive testing.

To summarize the problem: for some people, sliders in long vertical
scrollbars are often (if not always) rendered partly wrong.

To summarize what I'd like you to test: Try to reproduce the bug. I am
especially interested whether it occurs with/without KMS, compositing
and various video drivers (the reporter has an ATI card, I have an Intel
card...). If you can reproduce it with default fedora installation, it
would be great if you could test if it happens also with other
configurations (i.e. different video driver and KMS/compositing
settings) on the same machine. Are you able to reproduce it only on
vertical scrollbars, or also on horizontal ones?

The reporter also says that it does not happen with other gtk engines
than nodoka. I'm not sure which he tried though, but most likely those
available via gtk2-engines package. Therefore I'm especially interested
in those that are *not* installed by default (e.g. murrine), or even not
available in repository (e.g. aurora). This could help me diagnose which
sequence of cairo commands triggers this issue (different engines draw
the sliders in different ways, not only with different look).

I think this bug is not in nodoka, because
a) I haven't touched the scrollbar's sliders drawing code since about
Fedora 9 and it started occurring only lately
b) the reporter uses different video driver than I do
c) we've already had a bug in ati driver being triggered by nodoka code
in the past
d) I've reviewed the drawing code, and didn't find anything that could
cause this

But I'd like to have more info to know why is this happening in nodoka
and not in clearlooks and to have better idea if I need to reassign the
bug to other component (and which), or if it is a bug in nodoka code
after all...

Thanks in advance for any help with this,
Martin
