Unable to boot F13 Beta from USB

says "Note that the liveusb-creator GUI, however, does not support
putting the DVD installer on USB."

I used the "manual" procedure described below this statement and prepared
a USB flash drive that contains F13-Beta-x86_64-Live.iso and which worked
well to install F13 beta.

Some observations...

It is *essential* to check the box for the installation media drive as
one of the drives to use for this installation.  If not, the installer
complains it cannot find the media it needs.


This list of drives does not provide enough details.  In my case, I had
two 1TB drives of the same model.  The identification of each was
identical - which one do I wish to identify as the target for
installation?

My "solution" was to guess one (arbitrary choice), then later say I
wanted to create a custom layout.  This gave me the opportunity to see
the existing partitions on all the drives, choose something to delete
(from any drive, without limitation to the "installation" drives) and
create space for the new F13 system.  I still have no idea what drive
the installer thought I wanted to use when I made this arbitrary choice.


Even though the Beta release is only two days old, a "yum update"
retrieved 499 packages to process.  This surprised me (I guess Fedora
testers and developers are working quickly) - it would have been nice to
get a good part of this half-gigabyte of newer code into the Beta media.
I am sure there are multiple reasons for this; ours is an imperfect
world.



After I removed the gupnp packages from the update set (this problem was
reported earlier on this list), the update was successful.  There were
annoying delays (timeouts, I guess) of about one minute during update of
sendmail, and two minutes during cleanup of sendmail.  The update process
was somewhat noisy.  Here are relevent lines:
