Sorry, guess I didn't pay enough attention to the error - my reflexive
reaction wasto downgrade and reattempt the installation.

As for not installing mesa-dri-drivers-experimental, I guess I can 
live with it, especially since neither compiz nor mutter want to 
run at the moment. Typical early Rawhide behavior for me.

Most intriguing aspect of the installation, however, is the
initramfs situation. With the initramfs-2.6.34-11.fc14.x86_64.img
created during the installation, when X starts, all I see is a
white screen with scattered colored pixels on it; the system locks
up and I have to use the power-on switch to reboot. However, the
system boots fine if I remove the initrd line from grub.conf
