Fedora to the Rescue

I had been running Ubuntu on a Compaq Presario V5000 laptop
for some time. After a few too many updates and upgrades, the
barnacles had gotten a bit thick. I loaded 10.04 desktop but it
wouldn't deal with the Broadcom wi-fi chip. I tried UE 2.7
with the same result. Soooo ... I installed Fedora 13 and Fedora
worked with the wi-fi out of the box.

I tried to install Ubuntu 10.04 on my office machine after changing
video boards to an ATI 5670. That change was made necessary
because Windows 7 broke some programs when the default Nvidia
driver was updated. Ubuntu went blank. I had to use UE 2.7
with "safe graphics" to get things going. Fedora 13 worked out of
the box.

Congrats on a job well done!
