[F13] Changing the language interface in inkscape to German: no luck!

Hi,

I want to change the Inkscape interface language from US to German by 
using the "ctrl+Shift+P" dialog: setting then the language to german and 
restarting Inkscape has no effect.

Anybody has an advice to achieve this?
