weird bash completion

Having a file in my home called :0-greeter.log

If pressing "rm :<tab>", the bash completes:

rm :\:0-greeter.log

Two questions:

1. Why the : is escaped at second position?
2. Why the : is escaped at all?

That's a known issue?

Kind regards
