What has happened to desktop icons in rawhide?

Wow, this bug is four months old and no indication what is actually 
wrong except maybe something to do with nautilus.  The workarounds in 
the bz don't work for me.  Do we ping Tomáš Bžatek?  Maybe he has more 
information.  I'll include him on this reply.
