grey screen blanking in gnome3 fedora 15 hard disk install How do I disable it?

1-)After several minutes of inactivity my install of the gnome3 
test-day.iso  to hard disk (dd of .iso to USB)  blanks to grey screen. 
Any motion of mouse or keys revives the display. I have done xset -dpms 
and xset -s off already. How do I disable this feature?

2-) I have "alacarte" installed how can I add a favorite window to the 
left pane for the Desktop?
