Fedora 15 and cannot unpin application from the taskbar

Help me to remove two applications from the taskbar.

Fedora 15 with graphics to off

I dragged to the taskbar, the system update command, when I really wanted to drag the solitaire application. Then I dragged solitaire there again and it is there twice (2nd time was accident).

I now need your help to remove any application from the taskbar.  Is there a way to recreate the vanilla taskbar without killing the user and then recreating the user.

There must be a solution.  Otherwise one can fill up the taskbar with many duplicates, since there is no check to verify that the item is already present.

People,

As well as the other problems I reported, using this command:

qemu-kvm -m 512 -net nic,model=ne2k_pci -net user -cdrom
/backup/arch/Fedora-15-i386-netinst.iso

hangs at the line:

"Trying to unpack rootfs image as initramfs. . . "

Thanks,

Phil.

Ok, now I have a couple of unsettling numbers:

udev-settle.service is taking an incredible 57.670 seconds to do its
probes.  This is a pretty simple machine, so its somewhat unclear how it
could possibly mess up that badly.  5 of the 6 SATA ports are not even
connected.  Is there any way to see what it thinks that it is probing
that is so expensive?

ntpdate.service is the next heaviest candidate, taking only 16.281
seconds.  Presumably, this would be mostly due to my rogers.com uplink
having a really crummy dns resolver, and most of the default 4 indirects
to fedora.pool.ntp.org are to not very well known hosts (eliminating
most dns cache effects).  I can probably improve this a lot just by not
using rogers as my dns resolver.

cups.service is taking 6.373 seconds, presumably because I have not
configured a printer yet on F15.

Everything else is anywhere from 3.5 seconds (NetworkManager.service) to
12msec (rc.local.service), and so are probably not contributing any
significant amount of extra delay to the ridiculous 1-minute udev-settle
time.

512MB is not enough memory for the F15 installer, you'll need more - say
640MB to be safe (measured value seems to be between 560 and 600).

I had reported bug 643700 back in October 2010 for Fedora 14 ("black
window when running glxgears after resume from suspend on ATI Radeon
X800 SE") but it did not get further attention and nobody but you is
on the CC list even though the hardware is mainstream, and I would
expect many other Radeon users to be affected, too, making this a more
global issue. That's why I was interested in obtaining feedback
through the list. ~C

well, prior to f15, breaking 3D after suspend isn't massively important
- certainly ranks behind many other radeon bugs the maintainers would
have put first in priority. Of course, Shell changes that a bit. I'd
recommend you update the bug with the new info (it's still valid against
f15, and now the impact is worse because of Shell). thanks :)

Since there was only a generic printer listed, i wanted to add my network
printer (which is an Brother 5250DN). I reached somehow a place (Printers)
where i can press "unlock"  then "+" which i supposed will add a printer. i
attempted the "+" twice and crashed twice. At this point i figured out that
i'll have to use my brain a little bit :) I attempted to run
system-config-printer* from terminal and (pk?) offered to install it. (pk?)
Failed to install it but i installed it manually. After that, s-c-p told me
the daemon is not started (or something like that). Attempting to start it i
discovered it's not even installed. After install, i was still unable to
start it through systemct start cupsd.service. For some strange reasons,
service cups restart worked. (Later i've figured it out the service name
seems to be cups.service but, it's not listed under
/lib/systemd/system{/multi-user or graphilcal.target.wants} so i still can't
tell for sure) Then, i was able to add my network printer. Of course, as
usual, "Find network printer" didn't actually find anything unless i told it
the ip of the printer. After that, my printer was listed two times, once
under the name Brother* and once Jet direct* name. I selected the Brother*
name. It started searching for drivers. I've figured out that the listed
drivers are not printer specific an they are in limited numbers, so i
canceled the whole thing and checked if the foomatic database was installed.
It was not. After install, I could select a driver for my printer but, it
was not printing. The error was it could not find the printer. I deleted the
printer, readded it and this time i selected the other name, Jet direct*.
This time everything worked fine. Maybe it was not the right way to do
things, but it looks to me that's a lot of work to print something in F15.

Thanks - that got me through the install and allows me to create an
image.  I again started with installing the minimal system, started
networking and installed packages to resolve "(EE)" errors in
/var/log/Xorg.0.log but still became stuck with remaining error lines:

(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
[  1016.485] (EE) open /dev/fb0: No such device

where /dev/fb0 does actually exist . .

Thanks,

Phil.

I had set the version tag to 15 earlier this year and posted a message
referring to its GNOME3 relevance,

    http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/devel/2011-February/148580.html .

In my opinion, this bug should at least be assigned importance nth if
not more. However, before doing so, it would be interesting to know
about the share of user affected by this issue. Thus, I urge all
Radeon users relying on the r300 Mesa driver to check whether they can
resume from suspend successfully to a fully working GNOME shell or
compiz. Relevant hardware are all Radeon video cards sporting R3xx or
R4xx chips. Thanks! ~C

Hey guys,

I'm happy to be joining the Fedora BugZappers. I've been using Fedora for a
few years now .Back then it was only on FC10! I'm still surprised at how
fast new versions of all the Linux distros are released. Anyway, I
absolutely love using Fedora, Linux, and open-source software in general and
I've been wanting to contribute for a while now.

My experience with Linux and Fedora amount to a lot of playing around,
trying out different programs and customizing them and Fedora to my liking.
I'm a computer science major, but my university career is currently on hold
so I've been trying to teach myself a lot.

I'll tell you a little about me:

My name is Jeffrey Zic, and I am twenty-one years old. I live in the small
town of Milan, New York. Although I've been using Fedora for two or three
years now, I've only started using it as my main OS recently. Before I spent
most of my time on Windows, but now I only really use it for playing games.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help out with Fedora. Since I'm new
here I know I'm going to be quite lost so I'd appreciate anyone who can give
me some help starting out! I'm posting my contact information below.

Thanks!
    Jeff
