quick beta status update

just a quick beta status update: in case anyone hasn't been following
the IRC chatter, we were looking good until we ran into the iceberg,
i.e., noticed that EFI installs are pretty much utterly broken right
now. pjones is trying to fix this, obviously, but we're not looking good
for hitting the schedule.

there may be an RC4 earlyish tomorrow, if we get a fix for the EFI
issues that looks viable.
