will F18 allow simultaneous installation of more than one desktop?

There's likely several reasons:
* Live installs do not allow for the same level of customization as
regular installs. For instance, you can't (or at least couldn't?)
pick your / filesystem type with a live install.
* The netinst is a much smaller download, so for people who are doing a
bunch of different types of installs off one media or who are doing a
minimal install, this means downloading less stuff up front.
* Anyone who is doing an NFS install or HD ISO install is using either
an exploded tree or a complete ISO image, neither of which is the live
image, and will be downloading it.
