You can still use all the methods that askmethod gave you a menu for.
(Or, well, you *should* be able to. It all seems to be rather broken
right now. But that's just bugs, not intentional). You just have to
specify the actual method you want with a kernel parameter, rather than
passing 'askmethod' to get a menu which lets you pick one.

We'll have to make sure this is explained in documentation, and the test
cases are adjusted.
