Hum... ok... I suppose even without $DISPLAY set it should fail
gracefully and not Segfault.

Do you login with ssh? Do you trust the server? If yes to both, can
you do "ssh -X (...)" and try to run again gtg, as well as doing echo
$DISPLAY ?
