Telnetd broken

I've done some more testing.  There seems to be a random element to the 
problem.
Sometimes the telnet session will operate normally.  Other times much of 
the output
disappears.

I have observed this using various telnet clients on various machines 
including F18, rawhide,
and Scientific Linux.

I have not observed this problem telnetting to SCO Unix, Fedora 16, or 
Scientific Linux.
