 Hi,
Ed thank You for Your successful help,
I tried to install the original Canon drivers, result: libtiff.so.3 missing, see error message in German (I tried to install the German package)
 "Fehler beim Auflösen der Abhängigkeiten:
 Paket: cnijfilter-mp540series-3.00-1.i386 (/cnijfilter-mp540series-3.00-1.i386)
    Benötigt: libtiff.so.3"
The same error message was in F18 in the first time, later on this problem was solved.

I can not use cups, because cups services only the paper feed in the back of the printer (Canon Pixma MP540), normally used for photo printing.
Kind Regards
Joerg Lechner

the CANON printer-scanner driver MP540_RPM_drivers.tar(cups doesn't work totally
ok with a Canon Pixma MP540 printer-scanner). The driver package is downloaded
from the CANON support website. This driver package works fine with F18.

OK.... Found it.... The printer seems available only in Europe....

Just use "tar"

tar -xf MP540_RPM_drivers.tar

The only thing worse than a poorly asked question is a cryptic answer.
