Hi,
the problem of Gutenprint-Cups - paper feeder in the front of a Canon Pixma MP540 printer-scanner can not be used I have described in BUG 963116.

I don't know the answer to that question....

But, the normal course of action in this case would to file a bugzilla and hope 
it is an easy fix.
