Translating Gnome Top Level Menus

Christian, you're sooo right.
I found this link: 
http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gtp/translate-gnome/menus.html

And searched for the .directory files. And boom!!! they're all there:

/usr/share/desktop-directories/foobar.directory

By the way, it seems kde doesn't use those very same .directory files, 
there are some kde-foobar.directory files.

Anyways, I hope this information helps someone else.
