<fedora-triage-list at redhat.com>'s request for needinfo:
Bug 548852: UUID identification of disk partitions stalls boot
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=548852

------- Additional Comments from Burnie West <west at ieee.org>
I suspect this difficulty is related to installation and use of AMD's fglrx. I
do not normally use fstab, but let the kernel do its tasks unmolested. The
cited thread, and the comments above, all relate to my inability to boot and/or
mount USB devices reliably. The fglrx issue is related to a power problem, more
than a USB device mount problem, but over time they have conflated in my mind.

More recent kernels have attacked these earlier problems, and the only
remaining symptom AFAICT is that the released kernels have to have the
nomodeset option enabled.

In any case, I do not know if the problem that led me to generate this bug
report remains, as in the last few weeks I have not had occasion to attempt to
create an fstab that allows my plethora of USB drives to mount. Usually
(although not always) everything mounts cleanly. When they do not mount
cleanly, I only need to unplug the associated USB cables and plug them in
again. I have not taken the time to try to determine a reducible sequence that
distinguishes these cases.

Sorry I cannot be more help.
