Bug 548507: gpscat fails and doesnt recognize garmin gps-18 but lsusb and lshal
seem to see gps
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=548507

------- Additional Comments from collura at ieee.org
i tried gpscat on fedora core 14.

gpscat in gpsd-clients-2.95-2.fc14

for starters the gps-18 will now again successfully read (woohoo) in various
gps programs including xpgs but still fails with gpscat.

when i try gpscat with/without specifying a device i still have an error but at
line number 71 (paraphrased):

     'tty=os.open(arguments[0], os.O_RDWR)'

where for random nonexistent device get: 'OSError: [Error 2] No such file or
directory'

and for existent device when not running as root get: 'OSError: [Error 13]
Permission denied'

so will close this bug.

probably am just using gpscat wrong so maybe file new as request for
enhancement against gpscat for less catastrophic error message when
insufficient priv or bad device name.
