After uninstalling xorg-x11-drv-nouveau, the 'nouveau' driver did not load.
However xorg seems to have autoselected the 'vesa' driver now over the 'nvidia'
driver. From /var/log/Xorg.0.log:

To back this up, running 'nvidia-settings' returns: "You do not appear to be
