Fedora's Xserver is configured by default not to accept remote
connections (more secure).  So your xhost +<solarisbox> didn't do
anything.  Go to Redhat menu --> System Settings --> Login Screen Setup
and uncheck "Always disallow TCP connections to X server".  I think you
have to restart X after that (log out & log in may accomplish this).
