It sounds like you are planning on either an upgrade or a clean install
of FC1 on your existing system.  I would recommend a clean install. 
I've done both, and had better luck with the clean install.  With the
clean install you can leave your /home partition as is then Mozilla mail
will be untouched.  (assuming you don't run as root.)
