Sound problem in tuxracer

I have a fresh install of FC1.
When playing tuxracer ( and also in the main menu ) there are errors
in the music, as if some notes would be skipped. Sounds like some timing
problems.
Also during gameplay, when I pick up a herring, the "blip" sound is
sometimes delayed.
About a second or half second.

Does anyone else noteced thisd problem ?

HW info :

VIA 8235 / KT400 chipset
ALC 650 audio codec ( on the VIA southbridge )
radeon 8500LE gfx card
athlon XP 2200
256 MB DDR-266 RAM
