Suspend

Doing this has no affect on my laptop (Sharp PC-FS2518)

Try echo 1 > /proc/acpi/sleep

Of course this just stops the processor. The display is still on. I remember
seeing somewhere the commands to shut down the screen and the disk drives,
I guess I should look for it. 

One LED blinks in sleep mode. Does anyone have a feel for how long the
battery will alst of you sleep, rather than suspend?
