So was Redhat 9.  You never _had_ to pay for updates.  I got updates for
7.3, 8.0 and 9 simultaneously to maintain all these systems at once and
never paid a cent.  There are (and most likely will be for RHEL once
someone builds it) many ftp servers that mirror redhat.
