will future cd's be apt

the fedora team (the one external to redhat, but still a vital part of fc1/fc2) maintain an apt and yum repository, along with MANY packages that do not come with the standard fc install.

and, as far as desktop use is concerned, i think synaptic is better than apt and yum, also =]
