Modem USB ADSL Conexant AccessRunner

That is not the error occuring, just the end point. Are you at least a
bit common with source compilation? I got the source, untared it and run
"CC=gcc32 make" and it ended up with:

make[1]: Verlassen des Verzeichnisses Verzeichnis »/var/tmp/cxacru/init«
make[1]: Wechsel in das Verzeichnis Verzeichnis »/var/tmp/cxacru/init«
install -c -m 755 -p cxload cxioctl /usr/sbin
install: reguläre Datei »/usr/sbin/cxload« kann nicht angelegt werden:

This is becaus i run the compilation as non root. Shows the makefile is
crap. Besides that, you will have to edit the Makefile:

CONFIG_PATH = /usr/src/linux --> CONFIG_PATH = /usr/src/linux-2.4

Copy the kernel config file by running:

cp /boot/config-2.4.22-1.2188.nptl /usr/src/linux-2.4/.config

Of course you need the kernel source RPM installed. You could also as an
alternative directly build up an RPM. The source tarball comes with a
.spec file and the Makefile contains instructions for "make rpm".
