No, they are totally unrelated to USB.

Both are bonobo log entries.

nmbd log entries from Samba activity.

If you have no USB entries in the /var/log/messages then there is a
serious USB problem.

I recommend you plug out the USB card reader. Then reboot without the
USB reader connected. After the system is up again you open a terminal
and run

tail -f /var/log/messages

in it. Then plug in the USB card reader without the CF card in it. Have
an eye on the terminal with the system log. There must come up messages
about USB detecting a new device is attached. Then put in the CF card.
Again something in the messages log must appear. If nothing useful is to
be seeing unplug the card reader and replug it with the card in it.
There should come up messages which shows you information about USB mass
storage and SCSI.

If you have actually your custom kernel running, please boot with the
current Fedora kernel 2.6.7-1.494.2.2.
