I experienced a similar problem when using my external USB enclosure
with FC1. Those days the solution was to recompile the kernel after
changing a certain parameter.
I filed it as a Bug with Bugzilla
( https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=122522 )
and it was supposed to be solved in FC2 already. But from what I have
seen on this list lately, there still seems to be a problem.
In my case, the above procedure solved the problem, and I have since
used the enclosure with no problem.
