I would not recommend a fedora kernel on an SMP XEON system. I'm not
sure about
SMP on a P4 with hyperthread enabled. The boxes I have tried have all
been supermicro
dual XEON with and without hyperthread enabled. They worked well with NFS
mounts ot a remote server until I started mounting a remote samba share
from them. I have
tried multiple Fedora kernels and the only ones that don't crash are UP
kernels. I am
now using RH Enterprise on my test machines, not Fedora due to this issue.
I hope they do get a stable kernel as this looks really bad for Fedora
since this has
been an open issue for so long (see
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=109497)
Cheers,
