Or, go to <http://www.redhat.com/docs/books/max-rpm/> and download one 
of the versions of the book "Maximum RPM" by Edward C. Bailey.  It *IS* 
a bit dated (like uses rpm -b to build instead of the newer rpmbuild), 
but it has some good explanations of the BASICS, which haven't changed 
much, and man rpmbuild will update you.
