Phantom Floppy drive?

Everytime I attach a storage device (like, say, a USB key), and everytime 
I start up or shut down my machine, I get the following:

Feb 17 21:21:20 wookie kernel: inserting floppy driver for 2.4.22-1.2135.nptl

Feb 17 21:21:23 wookie kernel: floppy0: no floppy controllers found
Feb 17 21:21:23 wookie insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2135.nptl/kernel/drivers/block/floppy.o: init_module: No such device
Feb 17 21:21:23 wookie insmod: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.       
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

The issue here is that this is a notebook (an IBM Thinlpad) and it doesn't 
*have* a floppy drive! In fact I havent owned a notebook with one in 
almost 7 years!

I know that the error message doesn't hurt anybody, but there must be 
*some* way to tell the kernel to stop looking for something it ain't gonna 
find?
