Phantom Floppy drive?

Everytime I attach a storage device (like, say, a USB key), and everytime
I start up or shut down my machine, I get the following:
Feb 17 21:21:20 wookie kernel: inserting floppy driver for 2.4.22-1.2135.nptl
Feb 17 21:21:20 wookie kernel: Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M
Feb 17 21:21:23 wookie kernel: floppy0: no floppy controllers found
Feb 17 21:21:23 wookie insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2135.nptl/kernel/drivers/block/floppy.o: init_module: No such device
Feb 17 21:21:23 wookie insmod: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
Feb 17 21:21:23 wookie insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2135.nptl/kernel/drivers/block/floppy.o: insmod
block-major-2 failed
The issue here is that this is a notebook (an IBM Thinlpad) and it doesn't
*have* a floppy drive! In fact I havent owned a notebook with one in
almost 7 years!
I know that the error message doesn't hurt anybody, but there must be
*some* way to tell the kernel to stop looking for something it ain't gonna
find?

p.s. If someone wonders why 2.4.22-1.2135.nptl - read my next post. :)
