This may be jumping the gun but the latest kernel 2.4.22-1.2174.nptlsmp 
seems to have solved the SMP system hangs.. I was going to wait till it 
ran a full two days in the same way that I have run previous kernel 
releases to make sure its not just luck that it hasn't hung yet..

Perhaps bugzilla is a little behind on updating what has been addressed..
