To send a message: echo "your message" | smbclient -M RecipientsMachine
More comfortable with this little script called winpopup.sh

#!/bin/bash
machine=$1
shift
echo $@ | smbclient -U $USER -M $machine

Then you can do
# winpopup.sh Recipient Hi there?
