Something else that works good is the combination of the Overnet freebie core 
client:

and the ed2k GTK gui project as a frontend:

Note that while the latter is OSS the former isn't, so you have to trust the 
overnet-ites are not doing unto your Linux machine the evil that other P2P 
apps have long done to Windows machines.
