smbmount doesn't require root access. Put smbmount <service> <mount 
point> -o credentials=<filename> in .bash_profile and smbumount <mount 
point> in .bash_logout

that's the easiest way... never done something different, and it works 
for me! If you want something more complicated, read the manual - it 
works too :)
