antivirus package

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good antivirus package ? 

I want to learn to upgrade kernel.  Any good tutorials
or source I can look up ?  Also, if the kernel got
updated, does it mean that I have update a lot of other
package, like gnome, gaim too ?
