Hmm.. No idea here actually. But I've always used the io anticipatory schedular.
I've since moved on after reading the link below to the "it's your choice" kernel.
Right now, I've left it at the default "sc" schedular. 

I don't really understand all the options.  If anyone does, please do tell.
And I'm not sure whether I see improvements or otherwise.
