I have a similar set up with a linksys.
have you went in to the linksys admin -192.168.1.1 and checked
for firewall rules there? I know on some routers and firmware port 113
is blocked by default and you have to uncheck it to run..
For telnet I'm not to sure as I dont use it, but there may be a similar
rule set... also check the linux firewall settings
