FC1 upgrade from rh8, but running 2.6.7 kernels

Wierd.. I thought the installer (from CD) removes obsoleted packgages.

But now apt appears to have fixed this.

Sorry - I'm stumped here. You could try the following (not that it helps much)..

I get the same thing (rpm -V does MD5 check as well)
