kernel update/wireless install

Darren~
I downloaded the packages you suggested. I tried using yum to search for
packages (I haven't used yum before) and got an error saying that I should
contact the system administrator to update the headers. I checked /var for
the yum files, and the directory is empty - separate problem...

I ran the rpm -i on the firmware rpm and got the following error:
Error: can't create transaction lock.

Not sure what this means. Do I need to be logged in as root to run these?

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your feedback.

Regards,

John

If you're installing on the 2.6.6.1-435.2.3 you need the following rpms:

ipw2100-firmware-1.1-2.at.noarch.rpm
atrpms (trying yumming for this one)
kernel-module-hostap-2.6.6-1.435.2.3-0.1.3-4.rhfc2.at.i686.rpm
hostap-driver-0.1.3-4.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm
kernel-module-ipw2100-2.6.6-1.435.2.3-0.47-8.rhfc2.at.i686.rpm
ipw2100-0.47-8.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm

and in that order. :)

You can get those from www.atrpms.net...
http://www.atrpms.net/dist/fc2/ipw2100/

I have an Inspiron 600M with the IPW2100... and that's what I had to do
to get it all running on the 2.6.6-1.435.2.3 FC2 install. :)
