External links causes new browser start

Hi--

Been having trouble finding out how to configure the system so that
clicking on an external URL link causes the current browser to open a
new tab or window rather than causing a new iteration of the browser to
open its profile manager.  In this case links in Evo 1.4.5 cause Firefox
0.91 to open profile manager rather than just opening a new tab in the
currently running instance of Firefox.

Any ideas?  I've googled and checked some archives, but have found no
help.
